”So altars for me signify recognizing those who came before us and the land that was here before us, and understanding that we're part of the land. I brought back these found objects from South Africa, these oxidized cans and beer bottles that have been discarded and thrown away and seen as dangerous, sharp, rusted holes inside of them. I'm going to make an altar out of those on top of books that have inspired my growth, books that have inspired my artwork over the years, and books that have allowed me to acknowledge the ancestors that much more.”
